DESCRIPTION

This student brief asked us to design environmental graphics and wayfinding concepts for Bays West that encourages users to care for and contribute to the regeneration of Gadigal and Wangal Country. My approach was to design ground and bollard graphics that encourages children’s desire for play and to interact with their natural surroundings. The graphics are inspired by the patterns of Barangaroo's Living Seawall and the onomatopoeic sounds and movements of the surrounding environment. By fostering their connection with Country, this project aims to encourage children to contribute to natural and marine conservation, and pass this knowledge to future generations.

Black-and-white diagrams showing the scale and type specifications of the graphics.

In-situ mockups of the environmental graphics imposed on ground and concrete bollards in White Bay Power Station and in Barangaroo.

SAY HI!

I acknowledge the Dharug People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which I live, work and play. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present, and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Artists, Designers and Storytellers throughout Country. This always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
