METAMORPHOSIS (2024)

DESCRIPTION

This student project asked us to create a scrolling graphic narrative inspired by the research of Dr. Claire Rowe, particularly her research on the Upside-Down Jellyfish. In response I digitally illustrated a comic titled ‘Metamorphosis’, a personal anecdote about my gender identity parallel to the life cycle of the Upside-Down Jellyfish. The visual language comprises of a monochrome blue colour scheme with soft, airbrushed forms, setting the vulnerable, melancholic tone of the comic whilst evoking the transparency and fluidity of water.

Inspired by the article ‘Survival Stories | Meet the Scientist: Dr Claire Rowe’ by Zoe Sadokierski and Ceridwen Dovey.

SAY HI!

I acknowledge the Dharug People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which I live, work and play. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present, and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Artists, Designers and Storytellers throughout Country. This always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
