Brand identity

BRIEF

For this student project, we were asked to design a set of packaging designs for a dried food group of our choice, whilst considering sustainable pre-press and print techniques.

RESPONSE

I designed a series of packages for a speculative brand called Bukid (meaning ‘mountain’ in Bisaya), which serves sustainable, single-origin coffee beans ethically sourced from the mountain regions of the Philippines. I aimed to convey a sophisticated, high-quality specialty coffee brand through its minimal, contemporary design and its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The brand features a uniform design system that comprises an outside container and colour-coordinated information cards inserted in the box pockets. The outside container remains identical for each coffee variety, which allows for brand expansion and also reduces financial and environmental costs by lessening the number of designs to be printed. The final designs are printed on recycled paper stock, reiterating the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

LET’S TALK!

I acknowledge the Dharug People as the Traditional Caretakers and Custodians of the Land on which I live, work and play. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present, and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People as the first artists, designers and storytellers. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
