BRIEF

The Australian Centre for International Justice (ACIJ) is an independent, not-for-profit and specialist legal centre that aims to advance international justice in Australia. They seek justice and accountability for victims of atrocity crimes and human rights violations, and investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes.

As part of a capstone project supported by UTS Shopfront, we were tasked with designing a suite of social media templates to align the ACIJ’s public presence with their increasing scope and impact, and to build trust with their key audiences, namely victims and survivors, legal professionals, journalists and the general public.

RESPONSE

We developed an extensive communications strategy to strengthen the ACIJ’s position as a credible, trustworthy voice in the international justice space in Australia. Our tagline, ‘You deserve to know’, highlights their important role in demanding accountability from the governments and authorities responsible for serious human rights violations. We designed a series of eight Instagram posts, complete with assets and copy, that use clear, concise language to resonate with both general and legal audiences.

To support their brand communications, we designed a clear, cohesive and adaptable suite of Instagram templates to ensure the ACIJ’s complex legal messages cut through to their key audiences. We developed templates across ten content categories, each containing approximately 20-50 slide variations, resulting in visually engaging carousel posts that increase brand recognition and social media engagement. We introduced a top-bar system, inspired by the redaction imagery in their existing logo, that identifies the different content categories and conveys the breadth of the ACIJ’s work.

We also designed a suite of halftone texture graphics for the ACIJ’s upcoming Arms Export campaign, where they are taking the Australian Government to the Federal Court to challenge its role in supplying weapons parts to Israel.

LET’S TALK!

I acknowledge the Dharug People as the Traditional Caretakers and Custodians of the Land on which I live, work and play. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present, and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People as the first artists, designers and storytellers. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
